Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Support in Huntingdonshire.
A new project supporting mums, dads and babies with perinatal and bonding issues.
Being a new mum or dad isn't always what you think it's going to be. Our new service can help if you have become pregnant and your mental health has started to affect your quality of life, for example by feeling very anxious about the birth of your baby, depressed, suicidal, or just feeling low, or are worried about how you are going to cope when your baby comes.
Hand in Hand is for families from when they are pregnant until their infant is two.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and have a wealth of parenting experience. They are friendly, caring, know how to listen to parents and are reliable, trustworthy and fully trained. They are carefully matched with you and DBS checked to make sure they are safe to be in contact with you and your children.
Volunteers offer a mixture of practical help and emotional support, visiting for usually around a couple of hours a week.
Parent Infant Therapy
Our parent infant therapist can offer your family therapy to help you bond with your new baby, emotionally prepare for parenthood if you might be finding this tough, or help you recover after a difficult or traumatic birth. Mums and dads get referred to us for all kinds of reasons, but we want you to feel assured we're not here to judge, just to be a confidential space for you to help build a happy relationship with your baby.
We can meet families at clinics held at:
St Neots Children's Centre
St Ives Children's Centre
The Oak Tree Clinic
Home visiting is available through the perinatal home visiting programme (not parent infant therapy however which is clinic based).
